So. We went to Houston for Christmas to spend time with Alex's family, and I must say that every time we see them I love his family more and more. They are such great people. I am a very lucky lady to be a part of not one, but TWO amazing families. Alex and I had a rough time getting there (we even ended up having to stay overnight at a hotel near O'Hare after our flights were repeatedly cancelled), but we had a fabulous time once we finally made it to Houston. The trip was too short, of course, but it was great. :)
Tomorrow morning we leave for Palm Beach for three nights to spend more time with Alex's mom and Dominick, and I am THRILLED to get out of Iowa for a few more days. It is brutally cold here, like -7 degrees, the wind is whipping loudly outside the window as I sit here writing this, and we're expecting more ice storms over the next couple days. I can hardly believe that anyone in their right mind would choose to live here on purpose during these winters. Oy. I miss California SO much...
