Hollywoodland or Bust
There's a freeway running through the yard...two of them, actually.

Haircolor: "Warm Golden Brown," if you can believe it. Yes, I have brown hair now. I did it myself, out of a box, for the first time in about 6 years. I guess I just wanted to look a little less homeless (my roots were OUT of control), as my Hair Master and BFF, Sheyanne, is so far away and I have no way of getting back out to LA to see her anytime soon. (*SOB!*) It looks okay, I guess. It's still a little reddish. People have told me it looks nice. Eh--we'll see how long it lasts. :)

I have to say: I had the best weekend EVER this past weekend. I sang with my husband Alex's band, The Damnwells, TWICE...and had a blast in doing so.

First, Alex and myself performed acoustic on a Des Moines radio show (Capitol 106.3), then later that day I sang with the full band for the first time ever, opening for Iowa's beloved The Nadas at their annual benefit concert, "Nada Silent Night 6," which helped raise money and collect toys for The Marine Corps' Toys For Tots and raised money for the Des Moines chapter of Habitat For Humanity, as well. Santa was there. Some of my new friends from work came, too. My new brother-in-law, Neal Ostrovsky, played drums with us. We totally rocked it and it was SO much fun.

The next day we drove up to Chicago, and on Saturday night we played at the Double Door, the infamous Chicago rock club that I lived upstairs from for two years in my early twenties. My whole family came, along with a ton of our friends (and some friends' parents, too!), and fans flew in from all over the country to see us. It was a homecoming for me, and it was affirming for all of us. (I even have big bruises on my right thigh from rocking the tambourine so hard!) The crowd was amazing and sang their hearts out during every song. Alex was especially moved when he was able to step back from the microphone and the crowd took over and sang for him, most notably during the songs "Kung Fu Grip Kiss" and "Soundtrack" (the latter of which, I might add, isn't even available to the public yet)... It was a truly incredible night.

The next morning, we all went out for brunch at this great restaurant, Feast, and had good food, good conversation, and good times all around. My family is the best. We REALLY didn't want to leave...

In other news, I had a physical on Monday. ...And I am healthy! Woo! Good times.
