Happy Birthday to my Dad! :)
Ooof! I have really been slacking on the blog again. Sorry...my bad!
First of all, our play, "Placing Out," was a huge success. We were only scheduled to do one performance but we had such an overwhelming turnout that we had to split the audience and add a second performance that night. It was awesome! We had a great time and everyone did beautifully. I was so relieved! I was so happy to do a play again and was pleased to find I hadn't lost my nerve or my skills--I even managed to pick up a line for one of my fellow actors! Woo!
I had an audition the next day for a feature film (starring Ray Liotta) that's going to be shooting in Iowa next month, and although I haven't heard anything back I was so excited to have the opportunity to read for the part. I am so happy I had the chance to meet the casting director I auditioned for, and I recently realized that I'm getting more auditions here in Iowa City over the past few months than I did in TWO YEARS of trying in LA! Amazing!
Thanksgiving was great. Very moving, with all my family has been going through as of late. (Sometimes I rhyme.)
Work is good. Long hours of standing, standing, standing, but totally tolerable. Everyone I work with is super nice, so that helps. I must admit, it's kinda fun, actually. (Shhhh, don't tell!)
Yesterday, I got a call from the Production Manager (also a resident artist: actor, writer and director) at the Riverside Theatre, Iowa City's professional theatre company. They have a monologue festival coming up in March, and they actually called me specifically and offered me a chance to participate in the festival! So exciting!!!! I hope it's gonna work out--I'd be THRILLED to be involved with them more actively!
So yeah, good stuff all around... :)
PS--IT'S SNOWING!
