Hollywoodland or Bust
There's a freeway running through the yard...two of them, actually.

I just realized what a downer my blog has been lately. I want everyone to know, however, that our life is actually really fun and lots of good things have been happening lately, in addition to the tough stuff.

I start my new job today, for one. I'm pretty excited about that. Some responsibility and a little bit of money will REALLY help to make me happier, personally, and that means that other people will now get Christmas presents, too! So really, it's good for everybody.

Secondly, last night I officially accepted the University of Iowa's offer of admission for the Spring semester! I'll be registering for classes soon, and before you know it I'll be taking all kinds of acting classes and Shakespeare classes, analyzing scripts, interpreting literature, and so on. I'm a little nervous, but I'm also excited to jump in head first and knock this degree out. I'm thrilled to be able to take so many creative classes all at once! I feel like living in LA for so long stunted my creativity and caused me to lose brain cells (case in point: I wanted to type "get stupider" here)--I can't wait to be creatively AND intellectually stimulated again! I think it might just blow my mind.

Also, we're in tech week for the play I'm currently in, which opens on Wednesday. I have been very busy with rehearsals and obsessively working on my lines, and it's fun! So there's that. :) Oh, and I also auditioned for a role in a play at the Riverside Theatre last week (the professional company in town). Although I didn't get cast for the part, it was so great to start making contacts for the future--I'm so happy to be getting involved with such a fantastic group of people, especially because they share my interests (bonus!). Woo!

Anyway, we're having a great time here in Iowa as of late. Alex's students recently discovered that he's a rock star, also, and now they ask him for his autograph all the time--that's entertaining. :) The Damnwells are playing two shows in early December, so we've been preparing for them, as well. I've performed at small acoustic shows with just Alex in the past, but at these shows I'm going to be singing with them for the first time on a big stage! I'm so nervous!!!! We play in Des Moines on December 5th, opening for the Nadas, and then we play a headlining show at the Double Door in Chicago on Saturday the 6th. Can't wait! We hope to see you if you can make it!

Love,
Angela
