Tonight, as I sit here writing this, I wish we were at Pineapple Town with Sheyanne and Quick. I miss those dudes a whole bunch.
In honor of Pineapple Town's memory and in celebration of Sheyanne's upcoming visit next month, here are the Top Ten Reasons Why I Like Iowa Today:
1. I don't have to shower if I don't feel like it, because nobody cares!
2. I don't have to wear heels when I go out to avoid feeling frumpy and ugly. Nobody wears heels here and nobody cares!
3. I can just throw on whatever and hop in the car because I don't have it in the back of my head that a casting director or potential agent might see me not lookin' so hot. ...And nobody cares! I've seen so many sweatpants in the last few weeks I've waaaaay lost count.
4. Ozzy loooves to look out our big windows into our front and back yards. (Did I mention we HAVE front and back yards?)
5. Plants actually grow here and like it!
6. We wouldn't have to lock our front door if we didn't feel like it cause it's so SAFE here.
7. We don't have to deal with a-hole neighbors who let their dogs pee on the laundry room floor in front of us and then don't clean it up.
8. We don't have to listen to doors slamming and other people's TV sets blaring in a cookie cutter multi-unit apartment building with a passive-agressive, anal retentive building manager (woo-hoo!).
9. Our rent is less than half what it was to live in the Valley, for goodness' sake.
10. It's relaxing and quiet and everything is so CHEAP! Oh yeah, and the bunnies! ;)
Hooray for Iowa!!!! ...But you're never gonna guess who called me today--one of the commercial agencies I read for just before I left Los Angeles a few weeks ago. They seemed like a great agency when I went in to meet with them, but after not hearing anything I naturally thought they weren't interested. Then I got call I got this afternoon, however, and they're asking me to come in and read for them again, asking for a second meeting.
I'm just not sure how to handle it... I'm obviously here in Iowa City now. I'd be happy to spend a few weeks or a month or two in LA at a time if I had a great agency who was willing (and able) to send me out for several castings a week--but I'm unsure they'd be willing to work with someone who wasn't in town all the time.
I guess all I can really do is call them back and lay it out there for them, right? The worst thing that could happen is they could pass--which I already thought they'd done before--I could take the disappointment again like it was nothin'. And on the other side of the coin, they could be into it! I guess I'll give them a call. Maybe I'll ask them if they're affiliated with any agnecies in Chicago, as well. It'd be much closer for castings and I could take a bus there and ride the El to auditions rather than having to fly and rent a car in LA.
Hmmmm...
