Today I am thrilled. I woke up this morning to a call informing me that I HAVE BEEN CAST(!) in the upcoming SAG Independent feature film, "Who's Your Daddy," that begins shooting right here in Iowa in a few days. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!
I auditioned for the film yesterday in Bettendorf, Iowa (about an hour east of Iowa City). I drove there with my friend David, who I was just in "Truth and Truth" with, who was also auditioning for another project at the same hotel, and we had a lovely time on our little road trip.
My audition went very, very well. I read for the director, producers, the writer, casting director, and several other folks, and I think they really liked me. They had me read for four different roles, and they called me first thing this morning to inform me I have been cast as a soldier with cancer in a VA hospital! It's a small, supporting role with three or four lines, and I think that's a perfect place to start with my new filmmaker friends. I am thrilled to be working with this production company. I've also heard from several people that they have a number films lined up to shoot after "Who's Your Daddy," so maybe they'll like me enough to bring me back for future films, as well! A girl can hope, right? Anyway, I am SO excited.
Yesterday I had two great auditions, actually -- the other was for a second role in "The Experiment," (the secretary role was cut from the script, which was hugely uplifting for me to hear, because I thought I just didn't get a callback and was a little sad about it) -- and this second audition went very well, also! It was so great to see Ann again, and we had a fun time shooting my audition tape. Here's hoping I can book that, too!
