I've been wasting a lot of time feeling sorry for myself lately, so I'm just gonna go ahead and knock that off because nobody wants to hear it. I sure don't. I have a friend who I follow on Twitter and all day long he just posts complaints--I'm seriously thinking about un-friending him because of it! Like, just cheer up already! So here we go... Happy happy happy! Fun fun fun! ;)
I had a big audition on Friday in Des Moines for an upcoming film called "The Experiment," based on the events of the real life Stanford Prison Experiment (see: http://www.prisonexp.org/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment ), that took place in 1971. The film stars Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood, and Adrien Brody, and I auditioned for the role of "Secretary." Hot, right? It would be amazing and a huge help to my career if I could book this! I haven't heard anything yet, so everybody CROSS YOUR FINGERS! (...But not with both hands, because that cancels out the good luck--isn't that what we learned in kindergarten?) It was great to finally get a chance to meet Iowa casting director, Ann Wilkinson of PMS Casting, as well, and I hope she'll call me back in the future!
I also just signed on with a team of filmmakers to act in a short film for the "48 Hour Film Project," (see http://www.48hourfilm.com/ ), Des Moines division. It's a nationwide competition (worldwide, actually) to see who can make the best short film in 48 hours, and the ten best films from across the world screen at Cannes! For the project, each team pulls three components out of a hat at the start of the weekend--a character, a line of dialogue, and a genre (horror/thriller/musical/etc.)--and you take it from there to make your film...in 48 hours, of course. We'll be shooting our film over the weekend of July 24-26, and I'm so excited! It's going to be so much fun.
On a more personal note, I've decided that self-doubt is for the birds (thank you, Cameron, for the pep talk!), and I plan to be much more hopeful and positive in the future. I also plan to make stronger choices in my acting. I lost sight of that a little bit at this last audition...so never again!
And I promise, promise, promise to keep up on my blogging this summer. Thanks for reading!
