Hollywoodland or Bust
There's a freeway running through the yard...two of them, actually.

I should really be writing one of two huge papers that are due this week, but instead, I want to chat.  I have so much to tell you.

So.  First of all, let me just say that I had the most incredible time performing in the "Walking The Wire" Monologue Festival this past weekend at the Riverside Theatre.  It was so wonderful to be involved in my first Riverside production and I feel so honored that they invited me to participate this year.  I have really received a much warmer welcome into the Iowa City theatrical community than I'd ever dreamed of, and I am so moved that Ron Clark and Jody Hovland and everyone at the Riverside Theatre decided to take a chance on putting me in their show after only meeting me once.  What I learned through this rehearsal process and these performances is immeasurable.  I finally feel truly confident in my acting again...or maybe for the first time...and I owe it all to Ron and Jody.  Thank you so much, guys.

Along with this production came a great deal of press, as well.  A photo of me performing my monologue was even featured in the newspaper!  (Sure, they spelled my last name incorrectly and swapped the captions, but it was my picture in the paper all the same!)  Sadly, the online link to that article has been removed already (but don't worry, Mom--I saved you an extra copy of the whole paper!).  Here's another review that was published in the Cedar Rapids Gazette: http://www.gazetteonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090306/NEWS/7030799....  It's not the most glowing review, but he does say some nice things about me!

My other big news of the day is that I just got cast in a supporting role for a pilot that starts shooting right away for the Big Ten Network!  ...But get this: the role I've been cast for is called "Middle Aged Woman" in the script!  (Yes, ME!  I mean, come on--middle aged??!?).  I find this equal parts humorous, kind of adorable, and totally appalling.  I love it.  I'm not totally sure if I'll be able to accept the role yet, due to SAG rules (depends if the producer is willing to jump through all of SAG's ridiculous Student Film Contract hoops or not), so we'll see.  But, hey!  I still booked it, regardless!  :)
