Here's a photo that I believe was taken by our friend Mandy Miller (check out a link to her photo blog here: http://mandymillerphotos.blogspot.com/). The photo was taken yesterday afternoon, as Alex and I performed at the Java House here in Iowa City. We were on "Java Blend," a show on Iowa Public Radio. I believe the radio show will be airing on February 12 and 13 (or was it February 20 and 21?). The performance was also shot by the kind folks at UITV, so it should be shown sometime soon on UITV, as well.
Today's a good day. It's been a couple really good days in a row, actually. The sun is shining and it's in the high 40's this weekend. I was able to wear SHOES out of the house instead of boots for the first time in three months(!!!). We saw a super fun play last night, Shakespeare's As You Like It, on the University's mainstage. I saw lots of people I knew there, including classmates who were very nice to me, and Jody, the wonderful Artistic Director of the Riverside Theatre. Lots of our friends, including the band The Nadas, came to hear us play yesterday. We also got the chance to go out into the mayhem that is downtown Iowa City on a Friday night and see The Nadas play last night--they are such great people and such a fun band to watch. My new computer finally came via FedEx this morning. I had my first meeting this afternoon with my director for Walking The Wire (the upcoming monologue festival I'm performing in at the Riverside Theatre)--we had a great meeting and made some excellent progress (and I remembered all the words!). The new Damnwells record, "One Last Century," comes out on Tuesday and will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD at www.pastemagazine.com/thedamnwells. AND the Damnwells (including me) have been invited to headline a party at SXSW in April (South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas)--I have always wanted to go but never had an excuse before!
Anyway, it's been a pretty great couple of days.
Now I must get back to my reading of Shakespeare and writing 800 papers so I can go to a drag show in Cedar Rapids tonight. Ahhhh, the life of a college student... :)
